A couple of weeks ago, XDADevelopers had spotted details of the Redmi S2 present in firmware files that it accessed. According to initial reports, the Redmi S2 is expected to be a budget device by Xiaomi with features such as face unlock and dual cameras. What makes the device interesting is that currently only the Redmi Note 5 Pro and the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S offer face unlock features among Xiaomi’s portfolio. The addition of this feature in a budget offering could pave the way for expansion of this feature into other devices manufactured by Xiaomi.
A Czech website Svetandroida, has now published high resolution images of the Redmi S2 in all its glory, revealing the body, front and rear of the device. The device in the photos appear to be a pleasant Rose Gold, with a fingerprint sensor at the rear, and two cameras vertically placed to the side of it. Antenna lines curve by the top and bottom edges of the device, with the volume rocker and power buttons on the right side of the device.

Through an earlier leak on TENAA, it was suggested that the device would come with a 3,080mAh battery. According to the new revelation, the Redmi S2 is expected to have a 4,205mAh batter instead. In addition, the Redmi S2 is expected to run Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. The 3.5mm audio jack and microUSB interface also appears to be retained in the Redmi S2. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chip, with 3GB RAM. It is expected to have onboard storage of 32GB. Its 5.99-inch HD+ display offers a resolution of 720×1440 pixels. The dual camera on the rear is expected to have a 12MP primary + 5MP secondary configuration. On the front, the device has a 16MP camera for selfies.
