Xiaomi is set to launch the Redmi S2, the second-generation smartphone in the Redmi S series on May 10. The Chinese smartphone maker confirmed the launch via an official teaser this week and now a new poster gives us our best look yet at the back of the smartphone.
The new poster coming via a retailer shows a gold finished version of the smartphone. The first leaks of the smartphone had showed a variant in pink variant. The poster obtained by MyDrivers shows that Redmi S2 will feature metal back with split-antenna design similar to that Oppo R11. Below the antenna lines will be the dual camera setup stacked vertically similar to that of Redmi Note 5 Pro, Mi MIX 2S and the recently launched Mi 6X.
The poster confirms that one of the two cameras on the back of the smartphone will use a 12-megapixel image sensor. Of course, the camera will support new AI features similar to what we have seen on smartphones from brands like Oppo and Huawei. The poster also shows the rear mounted fingerprint sensor suggesting the Redmi S2 will indeed get a full view display. There is a volume rocker and button on the right side of the smartphone.
The leaks so far suggest the Redmi S2 will feature a 5.99-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels. It is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It will run MIUI 9 based on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.
Xiaomi has scheduled the launch event at the Nanjing Suning Tesco headquarters on May 10. Following the launch in China, the smartphone is expected to become available in other markets including Europe and Asia. The Redmi S2 is also expected to launch in India later this year.
