Chinese electronics and smartphone maker Xiaomi is all set to launch yet another smartphone, this time the selfie-centric Xiaomi Redmi Y2 in the Indian market. The company will launch the upcoming device in a launch event in Delhi along with the expected launch of the next version of its Android-based OS, MIUI 10.
Xiaomi has teased a number of features about the upcoming device including the 16-megapixel front camera along with AI technology including features such as Portrait Mode, AI Smart Beauty, and Front HDR. This is likely to be the successor of the Xiaomi Redmi Y1 that the company launched late last year. As previously reported, the company is likely to price the device from Rs 9,999 for the entry-level variant to Rs 11,999 for the top-end variant. The device will be exclusively available on Amazon India.
According to reports, the Redmi Y2 is likely to sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC along with 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage up to 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. The device may come with a 5.99-inch HD+ (720×1440 pixels) display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The Redmi Y2 may also support Face Unlock and an LED flash for taking selfies at night. There is also likely to be a dual-rear camera setup on the back of the device along with a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor.
