Chinese technology startup Xiaomi today launched YiCamera, its rugged, sports GoPro-like video camera. Much like any other product by Xiaomi, the YiCamera also comes at an enticing price point, costing just RMB 399 (approximately $64, or Rs 4,000) compared to its alternative on GoPro Hero4 Silver which costs about Rs 25,000 ($400).

As for the specifications, the YiCamera sports a 16-megapixel Sony Exmor R CMOS sensor with f/2.8 capable of taking 1080p videos at 60 frames per second in H.264 video codec. It offers an ultra wide 155-degree panoramic view. The camera also features slow motion recording and time lapse effects.

Much like GoPro cameras, the YiCamera also comes features built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support, and has an app which could be installed on Android smartphones which among other features lets you edit and share the video.

The YiCamera has been developed by a company called Xiaoyi, with which the Chinese giant has partnered. The YiCamera is available for purchase through Mi.com via flash sale to Chinese customers.

Xiaomi has been aggressively expanding its presence across several product categories. Last year the company launched Ants security camera last year for $25, a $146 Mi Air Purifier, and a $37 Light Bulb.
