Xolo today launched the Q1200 smartphone for Rs 13,999 in India. The Q1200 can be pre-booked from various online portals including Snapdeal, which had earlier listed the phone at a higher price of Rs 14,999. The phone will be available starting from June 10.
Talking of specifications, the Xolo Q1200 comes with a 5-inch 720p IPS display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek 6582 quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, expandable using a microSD card. The phone sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with Exmor R sensor and dual-LED flash, which is capable of recording 1080p videos.
Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 3G support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and USB OTG. It has a 2,000mAh battery, which can run for up to 15 hours on 2G and 9 hours on 3G, and provide a standby time of up to 418 hours. Other features in the phone include a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, sensors like accelerometer, magnetometer, ambient light and proximity sensors. On the software front, the phone comes with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, which can be upgraded to Android 4.4 KitKat.
At this price point, the Xolo Q1200 will be up against the likes of Motorola’s Moto G and Micromax Canvas Turbo Mini A200 among others. In comparison to Xolo’s offering, both the Moto G and the Canvas Turbo Mini A200 come with smaller 4.5-inch and 4.7 inch HD displays respectively. However, Mircomax’s offering does not have Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 protection on the display while the other two phones have it.
In terms of processor, the Canvas Turbo Mini A200 is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek 6582 quad-core chipset coupled with 1GB of RAM, just like the Xolo Q1200. The Moto G runs on a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor and it too comes with 1GB of RAM.
Memory-space wise, the Canvas Turbo Mini A200 has 4GB of internal memory with up to 32GB of external memory, while the Moto G offers 8GB of internal storage space but lacks a microSD card slot. The Xolo’s Q1200, on the other hand, offers the best of both worlds with 8GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot.
On the photography front, the Moto G houses a 5-megapixel rear and 1.3-megapixel front-facing cameras. The Canvas Turbo Mini A200 comes with an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front facing snapper.
Talking of software, Motorola’s Moto G has just received an update to Android’s latest 4.4.3 version. Micromax Canvas Turbo Mini A200, on the other hand, runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
The Moto G is is priced at Rs 12,499 and the Micromax Canvas Turbo A200 is available for Rs 11,990.
