Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, the first smartphone out of the recently announced strategic partnership between Asus and Flipkart, launched today in India. Priced at Rs 10,999 for the base model, the smartphone is exclusive to the Indian e-commerce portal and will be available starting May 3, 2018.
The smartphone adds to Asus’ new Zenfone Max series and boasts its design, camera, and stock Android as some of its highlights. It is a battery-centric smartphone and features a dual-camera setup. One of the important things to note about today’s launch is Asus’ shift to delivering the stock Android experience. The company has promised that it will provide the next two Android OS updates to the Zenfone Max Pro M1, including Android P and Android Q, as and when Google rolls them out. 18:9 display: The Zenfone Max Pro M1 is equipped with a 5.99-inch full HD+ display. It boasts a metal unibody design and despite the big display, it is claimed to offer the compactness of a 5.5-inch device.
Hardware: The Zenfone Max Pro M1 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC with 3GB/4GB/6GB of RAM with 32GB/64GB of internal storage. It is further expandable up to 2TB via microSD card. It is worth mentioning that there is dual-SIM support via triple slot which allows for storage expansion without interfering with the second SIM.
Massive battery: The Zenfone Max Pro M1 is a battery-centric smartphone boasting a capacity of 5,000mAh. With this capacity, the smartphone is capable of providing 25.3 hours of video playback. It further includes support for fast charging which is claimed to charge 30 minutes faster than the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro.
Dual cameras: Adding to the line of DSLR-like smartphones, the Zenfone Max Pro M1 is equipped with a dual-camera setup at the back. There's a combination of 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel depth sensor which comes with support for Portrait Mode, PDAF, and autofocus. Up front, there's an 8-megapixel sensor with LED flash.
Swift OS updates: The smartphone runs Android Oreo out-of-the-box. It is the first smartphone from Asus to run stock Android experience and the company is promising the next two OS updates to be provided as soon as Google rolls them out.
Face Unlock: In addition to the dedicated fingerprint sensor, the smartphone also supports Face Unlock for authentication. The technology allows you to essentially unlock your phone using facial recognition method.
Max Box: It includes a 5-magnet speaker and high-quality NXP smart amplifier for enhanced audio output. For immersive audio experience, Asus is also offering a Max Box which is an added audio accessory for the Zenfone Max Pro M1. It will be provided in-the-box
