Mobile World Congress (MWC 2018) will kick start on February 26, and run until March 1. During the four-day tech show, global mobile brands will be showcasing their upcoming hardware. From the likes of Samsung, Nokia, and LG, enthusiasts will be in for a treat as they will get a peek into the newest of smartphones to hit shelves in the coming weeks.

As the trend of 18:9 aspect ratio in the display from last year trickles into 2018, it is expected a major share of upcoming smartphones will boast similar narrow-bezel displays. In addition to that, the focus on camera remains, with artificial intelligence (AI) gaining prominence. Here’s an overview of all the smartphones and their key features which will grab attention at the upcoming MWC 2018.

  • ZTE Blade V9: Earlier expected to launch at the CES 2018, the ZTE Blade V9 might finally show up at the upcoming MWC 2018. The phone is likely to be one of the cheapest models featuring an 18:9 display and dual cameras. It is speculated to pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor and run Android Oreo out-of-the-box.

  • Sony Xperia XZ Pro, Xperia XZ2: The Sony Xperia XZ Pro will add to the list of Snadragon 845 SoC-powered devices, and boast a 4K OLED display. It is also speculated to come with a dual-camera setup with a combination of 18-megapixel and 12-megapixel sensors at the back. Sony is also expected to launch the Xperia XZ2 at the event. Based on leaked renders, the phone is likely to feature a full-screen design, dual-rear cameras, and rear fingerprint sensor. It is likely to be equipped with the same chipset as the Xperia XZ Pro, but with 4GB of RAM.

  • Asus Zenfone 5 series: Renders of the new Zenfone 5 series hint at 18:9 display, and a vertically positioned dual-camera module. The lack of a newer chipset, USB Type-C port, and presence of the standard authentication sensor suggests the phone might be an entry-level or mid-range smartphone. Other rumored specifications for the Zenfone 5 include Android 8.0 Oreo running out-of-the-box, and dual-SIM support.

  • Nokia 7 Plus: The Plus variant of the Nokia 7 is also likely to show up at the tech event later this month. The Nokia 7 Plus is said to flaunt a 6-inch full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio. It is likely to run the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC, and boast dual-camera setup with a combination of 12-megapixel and 13-megapixel sensors with support for 2X optical zoom and Bothie mode.

  • HTC Breeze: Among the long list of flagship smartphones, HTC is likely to introduce its entry-level 'Breeze' at MWC 2018. The smartphone is said to pack a 5.5-inch display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. It is speculated to pack a MediaTek SoC coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB storage.

  • Moto G6, Moto G6 Plus, Moto G6 Play: Motorola is likely to introduce a refreshed G series at the event. The Moto G6, Moto G6 Plus, and Moto G6 Play are rumored to hop on to the 18:9 display bandwagon. The three models will vary in terms of display sizes and subtle features. A fourth handset, Moto X5, is also rumored to be launched by the company soon. This particular model is likely to take on the iPhone X in terms of the notch design. It is also likely to come with dual cameras on the front and the back.

  • Nokia 8 Sirroco: Speculated to be a tribute to the Nokia 8800 Sirocco, the new Nokia 8 Sirocco is likely to equal its older cousin in terms of pricing. The premium smartphone is likely to feature a 5.5-inch, quad HD resolution 3D glass OLED display, and run the newest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC. Other features include a ZEISS-powered dual-camera setup, and a waterproof and dustproof chassis.

  • Xiaomi Mi 6X: Xiaomi Mi 6X is likely to pack the company's own Surge S2 chipset that uses Mali-G71 MP8 as the companion graphics processor. The phone is expected to feature a 5.7-inch or 5.9-inch display that will support full HD+ resolution. Some suggest the Mi 6X to launch as rebranded Mi A2.

  • LG V30, LG G7: LG is planning to launch an updated version of V30 smartphone at MWC 2018. It is expected to come with improved AI capabilities and could be named as V30+‘α’ when it is officially introduced on February 26. The new version is expected to sport the same 6-inch P-OLED display, 4GB RAM, up to 128GB internal storage,  along with the same old Snapdragon 835 SoC. While there is not enough evidence, the company might also tease the flagship LG G7 at the event.
