Drones are getting increasingly popular across the world. While there have been skepticism about the drones, especially over the possible misuse such as spying or as a weapon, there have also been some innovative use cases like Amazon‘s conceptual drone-based delivery system, called the Amazon Air Prime. Going forward we are likely to see more productive use cases of drones. One more area where drones can be very effective is taking photos with high aesthetics appeal.

Dronestagram is a photo-sharing platform for drone-lovers, and has announced the winners of its International Drone Photography Contest 2016. The contest first began three years ago, and since then it has been taking place every year. Out of all the pictures sent, National Geographic picked up three best photographs in three different categories.

When you look at these pictures you’d realize how underrated drone photography is. These photographs reflect so much skill one needs. It is not just flying the drone and taking a picture from up top, but the understanding that goes into floating your drone perfectly above a spot, and then composing a perfect shot while your drone is still hovering in the air! People really need to give them more credit.
