The OnePlus 5T was launched back in November 2017 in just a single color variant – Midnight Black. While an additional color has subsequently made its way to India in the form of the Sandstone White Star Wars limited edition, this is also now out of stock. However, OnePlus has now brought a new color variant for the OnePlus 5T to India – Lava Red.

The Lava Red color option was initially launched only in China in late November 2017, but has now made it’s way to India. The color is only available for the Rs 37,999 8GB RAM/128GB storage variant of the OnePlus 5T, and is slated to go on sale through Amazon India and on January 20, 2017. There are no differences in the product – it’s still a OnePlus 5T deep down inside, with a different color.

However, that color looks absolutely fantastic. With a dull matte finish and a striking shade of red, the OnePlus 5T Lava Red Edition will appeal to buyers that are looking for something other than the usual black. Notably, the company has also announced the launch of the Sandstone White OnePlus 5T in the US, which is practically the same as the Star Wars limited edition in terms of color and texture, but without the Star Wars logo at the back.

The OnePlus 5T is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, and comes with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM, 64GB or 128GB of storage, and a 6-inch full-HD+ AMOLED 18:9 aspect ratio screen. The fingerprint sensor on the device has been moved to the rear, and you also get a face unlock feature that lets you unlock the device and go straight to the home screen when the front camera recognises the face of the phone’s owner.

Take a look at our photo gallery of the new OnePlus 5T Lava Red edition.

  • The OnePlus 5T Lava Red Edition comes in a new striking shade of red that glistens differently depending on the angle you look at it.

  • The Lava Red color looks different depending on the angle you look at it. With bright daylight shining on it, you may even think its pink. But in most cases, it's unmistakably red.

  • The OnePlus logo at the back is a reflective shade of black, and sits in its usual place just under the fingerprint sensor.

  • The fingerprint sensor on the phone is also red to match with the rest of the device.

  • While the back is red, the front retains its black color.

  • Even the antenna lines have been shaded in red, with all the sides, top and bottom all sticking to the Lava Red shade.

  • Everything from the buttons to the alert slider keep the same shade of red, unlike on the sandstone white and Star Wars editions which have different colors for the buttons.
