Over the last few years, Portronics has made a name for itself with products such as the SoundPot and Posh, among consumers looking for affordable audio products at a low budget. Portronics recently added another product named Portronics Sound Slick Bar to its budget audio product portfolio. Priced at Rs 3,499, the Sound Slick bar comes across as an appropriate companion to enhance your home theater experience.
We ran our trials by playing Beat It by Michael Jackson and The Night We Met by Lord Huron. Not only did we play music wirelessly over the course of a week, but we also watched some Netflix episodes to get an idea of how the Sound Slick is with regular TV shows. Was this audio product able to keep up with the expectations? With low budget being the point in case, would you have to compromise on quality by owning the Sound Slick Bar? Find out in our review.
Portronics Sound Slick Bar Design & Specifications
From the first look, I have to admit that the device doesn’t come across as an affordable alternative to otherwise more expensive options. At the price, the Sound Slick Bar dons an all-black body with a premium finish to it. The well-rounded curved edges on this sleek device certainly add up to its attractive looks.
The Sound Slick Bar is around 32 inches in length and would work well with a wall-mounted TV. It measures 810 x 66 x 65 mm and weighs around 1.5Kg. Now, the wireless soundbar is not portable as it does not house a battery and runs on AC current, although it can be carried around easily and can also be wall mounted. It features a pair of 15-watt speaker with two passive radiators. All the control buttons including the power button, IR blaster, and the LED indicator are located on the left side of the device.
Essentially a Bluetooth-enabled wireless audio system, the Sound Slick Bar also allows users to connect a USB flash drive or any device through the 3.5 mm audio jack for auxiliary input. It also allows connectivity over Line-in and Line-out AV cables for any kind of media player device. Essentially, the Portronics Sound Slick Bar is impressive and elegant in looks, and also packs in all the key connectivity options you would ordinarily need.
Portronics Sound Slick Bar Performance
I was impressed with the Sound Slick Bar’s audio output, with the aggressively priced audio device leaving me happy with the quality of sound considering the price. As mentioned earlier, we played a range of genres on the device and it delivered crisp and clear sound. While one is likely to miss heavy bass on it most of the time, the decent treble balance makes up for it. We say the multi-purpose Sound Slick bar is certainly much better than its price suggests.
It doesn’t offer any option for bass and treble enhancements on board and thus you will have to make the desired equalizer changes on your media player itself. Even at high volumes, the Sound Slick offers balanced notes without any distortion. The seamless Bluetooth connectivity on the device is quick and we observed no lag during media playback.
Notably, the speaker output on the Sound Slick is uni-directional, which doesn’t come across evidently while enjoying music or movie. The control buttons on the device can take you some time to figure out. The remote control which comes along with the Sound Slick Bar is pretty good though, and works well.
Priced well at Rs 3,499, the Sound Slick Bar is more than one can ask for in the price segment. If you are looking for a multi-purpose audio system to go with both your music junkie spirit or binge-watching home theater experience, this would serve the purpose for you. The Portronics Sound Slick Bar, carrying an elegant design and good build quality might not produce a very detailed and refined sound as some of the high-end sound systems but is pleasing to the ears nonetheless.
If you look forward to your weekends watching TV series or plan to throw a party at your house without burning a deep hole in your pocket, then we recommend Portronics Sound Slick Bar to you. You can buy it here.
