Honor 9 Lite: Blows Away the Competition

The Honor 9 Lite feels more premium than any other metal unibody phone.

There’s just no other way to put it. The Honor 9 Lite is the best phone in its category by such a big distance that it makes all other phones irrelevant. Every aspect of the phone screams one word – Superiority.

Huawei has built a well-reputation for building stellar performers at down to earth prices. With the Honor 9 Lite they have only burnished their already shining image. The phone, first of all is an absolutely gorgeous looker. Dominating the front is the display which takes up 5.65 inches of the total 6-inches of space. The phone is 7.5mm thick and at 149 grams feels comfortable to hold. The back of the phone has a mirror-like glass finish. The Honor 9 Lite feels more premium than any other metal unibody phone in its price segment and stands out in a crowd. Looks apart it has an engine to die for.

The Honor 9 Lite runs on an octa-core Kirin 659 processor and comes with either 3GB RAM and 32GB storage or 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. It also includes FM radio, Bluetooth 4.2, single-band Wi-Fi b/g/n, 4G with VoLTE, USB-OTG, an ambient light, sensor, a proximity sensor, an accelerometer and a gyroscope.

Honor 9 Lite packs in a 5.65-inch IPS LCD with 18:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2160 x 1080 that gives it a high pixel density of 428ppi. The panel has good brightness and color reproduction too. The fingerprint sensor nests comfortably at the back of the phone and is easily reachable for one-handed operations.

The Honor 9i has to be the dual 13-megapixel plus 2-megapixel sensors both at the front and the back of the phone. Photos taken during the day or night from either of the cameras look good. Autofocus is quick and details in landscapes are distinct. Colors stay sharp even when zooming in on images. The cameras come with a number of modes wide aperture, portrait, professional, and panorama. There are additional gestures such as the ability to use your palm or your voice to capture a selfie. You can either say ‘cheese’ or have the phone take a shot when you shout at a certain volume level.

Video recording maxes out at 1080p and the quality of recorded video excellent. Portrait mode works well for the front and rear camera.

Despite being only a bit over the Rs 10,000 the phone packs a power 3000mAh battery. It is good enough to get you through a day of heavy usage. Of course, Honor has included a power-saving mode in case you do happen to run low on juice.

The Honor Lite is clearly streets ahead of its competitors. In fact, it has no competition. First, off it is the only phone in its category that comes with a gorgeous Infinity display that makes viewing videos and gameplay such a joy. The 18:9 aspect ratio of the screen is unmatched by anything the other phones have. The second big differentiator between the Honor and the rest are the cameras. The Huawei device packs twin shooters both at the front and back, therefore ensuring you get quality photos whichever camera you choose to use. Unlike the other two models that scrimp on the front shooter.

The Honor 9 Lite’s camera app is chockfull of options that help both the amateur and professional shutterbug get the best out of the shooters. Another big advantage of the Honor 9 Lite is that it provides the best value for money. It is by far the lowest priced phone among the competition.

Design, build quality, top drawer specs, infinity screen, dual cameras both at the front and the back and if that was not enough a price that simply blows any other phone away. Do you really need more reasons to buy the Honor 9 Lite?
