India indulges and lives from its heart with no holds barred. And who knows India better than homegrown Flipkart. It plans to make its next reveal by going big. Flipkart has even roped in its big kid (CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy) for the job. In his latest mysterious video, Krishnamurthy has dropped big breadcrumbs of at least two big announcements.
It’s recently been creating a lot of buzz with its highly cryptic ‘Big Reveal’ plans that are splashed across social media platforms, making our big mouths drop in thought.
Newsrooms around the country are exclaiming, “this is big!” Sources reveal it’s got a big connection with the mobile devices space. We don’t know for sure if it will be a new Flipkart smartphone debut, or a new big ticket partnership. Only time will tell.
Since we’re at smartphones, could it be a big smartphone, or a smartphone with a big personality? The pressure is growing, and our hearts are taking big leaps – racing rapidly towards the deadline. The announcements we’re expecting at 12 noon on April 17 will disrupt the market completely. Here’s the list of the big breadcrumbs Flipkart has dropped so far.
Bigger hype than Bitcoin
Flipkart’s post says the hype is bigger than Bitcoin. The cryptocurrency is known to grab headlines every time there is a steep rise or fall in valuation. Are we looking at something as dynamic as Bitcoin? Flipkart is making it clear that the upcoming partnership is so big that the Bitcoin will feel ‘insecure’.
Well, this could only mean a partnership with juggernauts such as Reliance Jio or Walmart! If we go by Krishnamurthy’s teaser video, the “exclusive partnership will be with a tech giant to disrupt the mobile phone landscape in a BIG way”. We are aware that the next big smartphones making their way to India are the Huawei P20 series. Huawei is a tech giant, and can potentially transform the Indian mobile landscape with its triple camera setup.
Big partner needs bigger cart
The search for cues leads us to another post by the company which clearly reads, “We had to customize our cart slightly to accommodate something BIG coming up on Flipkart.” A separate post says even the world’s best detectives are unable to solve the puzzle with a silhouette of Sherlock Holmes, while another says that some of the well-known partners-in-crime are feeling the threat over the impending announcement, with hints of Batman and Robin. The key takeaway from these hints is Flipkart considering services of its own.
So if there indeed was a big partnership Flipkart was getting into, what could it be? The one name that comes to our minds is Xiaomi – the brand has already been riding on exceptional success in the Indian market. The other, if of course – Reliance Jio. However, if it has to do something with a bigger cart and bigger hype, and involving popular fictional characters, we might be also looking at a subscription-based streaming service, which will put Flipkart in the forefront. The possibilities seem big, and since these cues are leading us to nowhere, we’d rather wait for Flipkart to reveal its big plans at 12 noon on April 17.
