Notebook Italia recently posted a hands-on video showing off several features of Sony’s S1 Android Honeycomb tablet. The S1 was announced in April — alongside the S2 — and is set for a fall release, but Sony hasn’t provided many chances for press to check out the device first-hand. As the video shows, the S1 will be the first tablet to run Sony’s PlayStation Suite software, an application that provides access to Sony PlayStaton certified games and content, such as the Green Hornet traile...

Photos not cutting it? Don’t worry, because your pals at BGR just spent some up close and personal time with the new Motorola Photon 4G. Sprint and Motorola teamed up to take the wraps off this sleek new smartphone earlier today, and we have to say, we’re impressed. With a 4.3-inch qHD display, 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor, 16GB of storage, an 8-megapixel camera, a secondary front-facing camera, support for Motorola’s webtop solution and, of course, a 4G WiMAX radio, this really might be the...

While it just was made official moments ago by Sprint CEO Dan Hesse and Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha, we were able to snag some hands-on time with the 4G beast earlier this morning. For starters, the Motorola Photon 4G features a 4.3-inch qHD display, 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor, 16GB of storage, an 8-megapixel camera, front-facing camera, and support for Motorola’s webtop solution, which will allow the phone to power a full Firefox browser on your HDTV. As far the feel, the device is extremely solid an...

LG officially announced the long rumored LG Optimus Big on Friday, making it the Korean firm’s largest Android smartphone to date. The Optimus Big runs Android 2.2, sports a 4.3-inch Nova Display, and is equipped with an HDMI-out port, a 1GHz processor, a 5-megapixel camera, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and a 1,500 mAh battery. The NOVA Display is the star of that spec sheet though, and we loved the rich colors and deep blacks when we first saw it on the Optimus Black. The Optimus Big will make it...

A recent report indicates that the unreleased Samsung Galaxy S II is getting a processor upgrade. Blog GSMArena states that the company will upgrade the 1 GHz dual-core Cortex-A9 processor to run at a blistering 1.2GHz. The site points to a slip on Samsung’s Estonian Facebook page — which mentioned the upgrade — and cites an “internal source” as its information sources. Samsung has yet to announce a specific release date for its next-generation flagship handset. (more...)This post ori...

LG may soon be chasing HTC in the phones-with-massive-displays market. According to some leaked images and specs, LG has a new phone codenamed “Optimus Big” up its sleeve. The Optimus Big — as its name implies — sports a large 4.3-inch screen, a single-core 1GHz processor, a T-DMB TV tuner, and LG’s super bright and sharp NOVA display. Little else is currently known about the phone, although we can tell from the images that it at least sports a forward-facing camera for video chats. It a...

We met up with Samsung during the CTIA Wireless trade show in Orlando to get up close and personal with the Galaxy Tab 8.9, Samsung’s new Android tablet that fills the space between its current 10-inch and 7-inch models. We certainly think Samsung hit the sweet spot with this one. The Galaxy Tab 8.9 is just 8.6mm thick, and it felt amazing — it’s much more sleek in the hand than the original chunkier 7-inch Galaxy Tab. Under its hood, the Galaxy Tab 8.9 has a 1GHz dual-core processor just like t...
