As expected, Apple has announced a new version of its flagship notebook, the MacBook Pro. The new model of the notebook comes equipped with a dazzling new ‘Retina Display’ with a resolution 2880×1800 pixels on a 15.4-inch display converting to 220 pixels per inch. Additionally, the notebook now gets the latest generation Intel Ivy Bridge CPUs, Nvidia Kepler GPUs, and a thinner design at 0.71-inches achieved by dropping the optical drive. Apple is preparing to launch a completely revamped 15-inch MacBook Pro model this year, 9to5Mac reports citing trusted sources that have handled prototype casings and components. According to these sources, the 2012 MacBook Pro will be much thinner than the earlier ones and will lose the optical drive, just like the current MacBook Air.
