Is Apple Watch the reason the Pebble Time is pre-selling three months before its launch?

Pebble today launched its third-generation smartwatch, the Pebble Time, which would be available in May for $199. However, the company is already pre-selling it on Kickstarter for $179 after 10,000 early bird users pre-ordered it for $159. Pebble is no longer the scrappy startup from 2013 that also put Kickstarter on the map by being the most successful project. So it seems a little strange for the company to go back to Kickstarter mode and pre-sell the smartwatch three months before it would be actually available. Could the Apple Watch, which is expected to be launched in April be the reason behind Pebble's move?
