As RIM closes in on the launch date for the BlackBerry 10 smartphone and OS, it has made a small change which could go a long way in making its app store more popular. RIM has removed the word ‘app’ from its store and it’s now known as BlackBerry World reports TechCrunch. What this change signifies is that apart from apps, the store will also provide multimedia content like music and videos. (more…)Google+

In an interview with a German daily Die Welt, RIM CEO Thorsten Heins revealed that RIM might consider the sale of its hardware division post the group’s strategic review. The review could also lead to the sale of its software licenses among other options. (more…)Google+

It looks like @evleaks is having a field day. After posting the HTC M7 render, the prolific leakster now posted an image shot which he alleges is from the BlackBerry Z10. The image seems to have been taken on a beach, but the image quality in itself seems to be very impressive. We also do notice a weird spot on the left side of the image, which could be a result of some editing, so judging the image purely on the basis of this image can be a bit tricky. (more…)Google+

RIM has issued a warning to people on Twitter who want to buy the current BlackBerry Dev Alpha devices off the Internet. RIM contends that firstly buying the developer devices in black is an illegal activity and then it drops a bombshell saying that all the Dev Alpha devices will be disabled after the first BlackBerry 10 smartphones are launched. BlackBerry users have had an unfortunate distinction of using a crippled Facebook app, that just cannot stand toe-to-toe with Android and iOS variants of the app. Thankfully, a new version of the app has been released that brings a number of new features that are exclusive to BlackBerry smartphones and also a number of UI refinements that make it more usable. The BlackBerry L-series could go down in history as perhaps the most leaked smartphone. Yes, that’s the amount of times we have seen leaked images of the ‘yet to be unveiled’ smartphone. RIM is planning an unveil on January 30, but the folks at TechSuplex have published images of the device from a variety of angles to give us a decent look at the hardware before RIM gets a chance to showcase its latest and greatest hardware. RIM has opened application submissions for developers so that their BlackBerry 10 (BB10) applications can be on the BlackBerry App world ahead of the Q1 2013 launch of BB10. BlackBerry users for years have gone through the painful process of syncing their content with the BlackBerry Desktop Software which is notoriously slow and cumbersome. BlackBerry Italia reports that RIM has a new suite in the works and it has been seen a couple of times running on the BlackBerry Dev Alpha devices at the BlackBerry Jam Americas developer events. The story of the BlackBerry 10 L-series and N-series smartphones is quite well documented. We have seen numerous leaks and we have even seen an internal marketing video, so both these phones are not unknown entities. A new device called the Aristo has surfaced which will supposedly be the successor to the L-series and will lead the charge for another new series called the A-Series according to Rapidberry.
