Google Glass can be hacked up to the level that one can even void its warranty. Google confirmed this at Google I/O . Inspite of this, two of Google’s software engineers, Hyunyoung Song and P.Y. Laligand led the “Voiding Your Warranty: Hacking Glass,” session to show how Glass users could root their devices to run Android apps and do more with the software. Google has announced a lot of new products at Google I/O and as expected it has also unveiled an update to its Maps. Google maps team has worked from the scratch to give a completely new look to the Maps, which also happens to be the first major design overhaul for the web interface ever since its launch almost eight years back. We were expecting Google to make some changes to Google+, and today at the Google I/O Vic Gundotra, Senior VP, Google has announced a facelift to its social service. The new version has a redesigned interface, with photos and videos spanning over three columns. Almost magazine like, abandoning a standard stream that the user has to keep scrolling. (more…)Google+

With just a few hours to go before Google’s I/O, rumors about what we can expect at the event continue to trickle in. Sticking to that tradition, the folks at Geek.com now claim to have credible information that Google is going to announce a new version of Samsung’s latest flagship phone called the Galaxy S4 Google Edition or Galaxy S4 GE. For the past year, Google CEO Larry Page has remained rather reclusive owing mainly due to an issue with his vocal cords. In fact, last year just days before Google I/O, Page had to withdraw from the event as he had lost his voice. Today in a Google+ post Larry Page has elaborated on his 14 year old history with a vocal cord nerve strain and that he is slowly recovering and is able to do all he needs to do at home and work. A couple of days ago, a white Nexus 4 had popped up on the Internet, which fueled rumors of Google launching a white version of the device at Google I/O. Today, TechView.Me has posted a video of a white Nexus 4 which claims to have taken at a Qualcomm booth at a conference in Dubai. (more…)Google+

People have been wondering what Google has in store for Google I/O apart from regular Android and Chrome OS announcements. Well, the Verge is reporting that Google will launch a Spotify like on-demand radio service at the event after securing licensing deals with Universal Music, Sony Music and Warner Music Group. For sometime there have been rumours about Google building a Game Center rival for Android to cater to the legion of gamers that use Android smartphones and tablets. Looks like this might actually happen as Android Police has published screenshots of a service called Google Play Games which was obtained from a leaked version of a Google Play services file. The screenshots indicate a number of incoming features that include achievements, in-game chat, matchmaking, cloud save syncing, and a leaderboard feature....

The ever reliable @evleaks has posted an image of a Motorola smartphone that is clearly pictured in a protective case that conceals its real identity. Going by the images the device not only runs on the AT&T network in the US, but also by the looks of it runs a pretty stock version of Android. (more…)Google+

So for the last year everyone has been saying that the next version of Android will be Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. Well that’s what they said when Android 4.1 was launched but Google went ahead and launched Android 4.2 and now Android Police claims to have found evidence for Android 4.3 in Google’s server logs.
