Even as we wait for HTC to officially launch the One S in India, online retailer Infibeam has jumped the gun and is already retailing it for Rs 36,157. We are not sure about the logic behind this pricing considering the One X is available for Rs 36,099 on the same store. UPDATE: Our reader, Venky, points out the One S is available for Rs 33,000 on Saholic. The One S features a 4.3-inch qHD (960×540 pixels) AMOLED display, a 1.7GHz Qualcomm S3 processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB internal storage and a 8-megapixel rear and VGA front camera. HTC had earlier announced it will launch the One S with Qualcomm’s S4 processor, which had comparable, if not better, performance than Nvidia’s Tegra 3 and Samsung’s Exynos Quad processors, both running four cores. However, it is launching it with an S3 processor in India and some other markets, due to a supply shortage from Qualcomm.

Mind you, this is not the official pricing revealed by HTC and we are still keeping our fingers crossed.

However, that was never meant to be.

We can now confirm the One S will be shipped with a Qualcomm S3 dual-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz rather than the 1.5GHz S4 processor that HTC had promised at MWC earlier this year. Qualcomm is facing a production crunch with its S4 series of Snapdragon processors and is not able to churn out enough silicon as the demand. HTC is having to face the brunt of it, which is a massive disappointment for us.

We are still looking forward to putting the One S through its paces and trust us to push it to its limit. HTC is expected to launch it in India next week.

It has circulated a cheatsheet for its sales staff to counter customer queries when they compare the One X’s features with that of the Galaxy S III. The cheatsheet has been clicked on camera by Pricebaba and while it is hopeless in many cases, it is good to see HTC finally trying to defend its turf.

In one of the pages HTC has also revealed it will be launching the One S in India on June 15 though the price has not been revealed. Earlier indications have suggested it to be priced around Rs 33,000 but we would be surprised if HTC does not position it more aggressively. There have been rumors that HTC might have outfitted the One S with a Qualcomm S3 processor rather than the S4 processor it originally announced amid shortages from Qualcomm. However, that is yet to be confirmed. Anyway, head over to the source link below to get a full dekko of HTC’s cheatsheet.
