Sometime back Microsoft had announced that there will be a version of its popular Kinect motion sensing camera for Windows along with a software development kit (SDK). Today, Kinect for Windows is officially available in India for Rs 19,990 along with the SDK. The intention here is not to only develop PC games that will harness the natural user interface heralded by the Kinect but also professional applications. (more…)Google+

Hrvoje Benko from Microsoft Research has posted a video of a wearable multi-touch projector, which essentially uses the camera module from the ‘Kinect.’ The device shown off in the video is basically a camera module mounted on an arm, which then projects a fully multitouch user interface on to a surface, which can be interacted with the way we currently use our smartphones. Microsoft released its Kinect for Windows SDK Beta 2 on Friday that adds support for Windows 8, among other changes. According to ZDNET, Microsoft has two Kinect development kits. One software development kit for commercial usage will be available early next year. Microsoft released its fiscal fourth-quarter earnings on Thursday and noted that its revenue of $17.73 billion was greater than any other fourth quarter in the company’s history. During Microsoft’s E3 2011 press conference on monday, Peter Moore, president of EA Sports, confirmed that Microsoft’s Xbox 360 Kinect motion controller will support EA Sports games in 2012. The initial titles compatible with the Kinect controller will be Madden, FIFA, Tiger Woods and a fourth title that has not yet been named. During Microsoft’s press conference at E3 in Los Angeles on Monday, Casey Hudson, the project lead for Mass Effect 3, announced that the game would be available on store shelves sometime in March 2012. Ray Muzyka, BioWare’s chief executive officer, also said that the Mass Effect 3 will take advantage of Microsoft’s Kinect controller, and gave a brief demo of how it will work, showing how gamers will even be able to use their voices to direct squad members.
