A couple of months ago, Google unveiled its news aggregation app called Currents for Android. The app garnered critical acclaim for its original but fluid interface but we were left gasping as the app was available only in the US Play Store and the Apple App store. This, however, has changed today as Google released the app outside the US, including India, with version 1.1.

Google Currents has access to over 400 publisher editions and 14,000 self-published editions of online magazines. The app can even utilize Google Translate if your favorite content is not in your language.

Besides this, Google has also added a dynamic refresh feature which intends to provide the user with fresh content all the time.The best part about this feature is that Google has optimized the dynamic refresh in such a way that the app uses minimal bandwidth. Currents also supports offline reading including images.

Google Currents was conceived out of a project internally known as ‘Propeller’ and was designed to give a custom magazine like twist to the users content in the mold of apps like Zite, Pulse and Flipboard.
