Symbian Belle smartphones including Nokia PureView 808 get sharing update

Nokia has been good with cameras in its high-end smartphones, in particular with its PureView 808 smartphone, which had a revolutionary 41-megapixel camera. When it comes to imaging in smartphones the next you think about is photo sharing and Nokia’s Symbian portfolio has been particularly lagging in this respect. The gallery lacked features with regards to sharing content on social networks. However, an update is being rolled out that makes sharing photos from the gallery to a social network much easier. This update is meant for all Symbian Belle feature pack 2 smartphones including the PureView 808, which also is officially the last Symbian device that Nokia will make. More →

Nokia 801 Belle-powered smartphone leaked

A new Nokia Belle device has apparently been leaked and the smartphone in question is the Nokia 801 which looks more like the N9 sporting the same unibody button-less design. According to Eldar Murtazin, this one is a legit leak and this rumored smartphone shall soon be announced by the Finnish vendor. Folks at the SmartPhoneGeeks who caught hold of this photo have also revealed a short list of its specs. This alleged handset will feature a 4.0-inch AMOLED ClearBlack display, a 1.4 GHz Processor, 512MB RAM and a 12.0 MP camera with autofocus and dual-LED flash with 1080p video recording. It will also be equipped with NFC. However, we doubt the authenticity of this leak considering this Belle screenshot has been there for months and this entire photo stunt could have been pulled using the Nokia Lumia 800. More →

RIP Symbian, it’s Nokia Belle now

RIP Symbian, it’s Nokia Belle now

It is the end of an era or more accurately close to the end. Nokia has dropped the Symbian branding from its own smartphone OS and is now calling it Nokia Belle - no more Symbian S60 versions, just Nokia and the version name. This move probably comes after Nokia sold and outsourced Symbian to Accenture, which would mean it does not own the Symbian trademark anymore. Nokia also announced it will release the Belle update for the Nokia N8, E7, E6, X7, C6-01, C7, and Oro starting from February 2012. However, new units of the Nokia N8 that will be shipped from its manufacturing facilities now will come with Belle on them.
