Yesterday Nokia and Carl Zeiss, the legendary German imaging company announced that they have extended their long standing exclusive partnership. Some of the fruits of this exclusive partnership have included devices like the N8, which still is the bar for camera phones in the market and the soon to be released Nokia PureView 808 and its unique 41-megapixel PureView camera. It is the end of an era or more accurately close to the end. Nokia has dropped the Symbian branding from its own smartphone OS and is now calling it Nokia Belle – no more Symbian S60 versions, just Nokia and the version name. This move probably comes after Nokia sold and outsourced Symbian to Accenture, which would mean it does not own the Symbian trademark anymore. Folks at Pocketnow have caught hold of a user manual for an alleged Symbian Belle-powered device which they are claiming to be the Nokia 803. Don’t hold your breath, the manual hasn’t put light on any tech specs. Nokia Beta Labs has today released an update for the Nokia N8 smartphone that will improve its camera capabilities. Nokia N8 users have started receiving the much-awaited Anna update, ZOMGitsCJ is reporting. Well, better late than never, but we can already foresee N8 users cringing about getting their devices updated to Belle OS. Nokia is also hosting an event in Hong Kong next week, where it is expected to release the first wave of Belle OS running devices.
