Microsoft has released a major update for its Outlook.com app for Android devices that flaunts a new user interface along with a number of feature additions to bring it at par with Windows 8 and web versions. With this update, the app sheds the old look to feature a cleaner, better arranged, user friendly interface, and carries several new features including more interactive thread-based conversations, adds filters for unread and flagged mails, and the ability to mark messages as junk. Microsoft updates calendar for Outlook.com

Few days after Microsoft’s announcement to bring major updates for its Calendar and other two apps for Windows 8, it has now revamped the calendar for Outlook.com with a new design and user interface, along with improved performance. After launching the successor to Hotmail last summer in a preview state, Microsoft earlier today removed the preview tag and officially announced the launch of Outlook.com. Microsoft also announced that Outlook.com is currently the fastest growing email service and has reached 60 million active users in less than 6 months, a third of which have come from Gmail. Microsoft has revealed via Twitter it has over 1 million registered users for its just-announced Outlook.com email service.
