Windows Store hits the 50,000 app count, Microsoft yet to officially confirm app count

Back in December we had reported the Windows Store had hit the 35,000 app mark unofficially. Today, according to third party Windows Store tracker MetroStore counter, there are over 50,000 apps in the store. There are infact 50,380 apps in the US store, but this number varies from country to country and that’s the reason Microsoft does not share the app count on the store more regularly. (more…)Google+

Canonical unveils Ubuntu for tablets, rips off Windows 8 UI

After unveiling Ubuntu for smartphones and smart TVs, Canonical has unveiled the tablet version of the OS. Notably, the tablet OS preview will be available on February 21 right alongside the smartphone preview, so this means Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 users will be able to install the preview version of the OS just like Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 4 users can install it on the smartphone version. BlueStacks, the startup that brings Android apps to PCs and Macs, released its new app player earlier today, which is optimized for the Surface Pro and computers running on Windows 8.
