Mozilla Firefox OS makes its first landing on ZTE Open and Alcatel One Touch Fire smartphones, both of which are flaunting the new OS at the MWC. While announcing the launch of the Firefox OS, Mozilla also disclosed its partners including ZTE, Alcatel, Huawei and LG as phone manufacturers, Qualcomm for providing Snapdragon chipsets, and so far 18 operators for bundled services. Chinese smartphone maker UMI has introduced the X2 smartphone in India for Rs 14,000. The device is notable because it boasts of a number of features that we associate with smartphones that cost upwards of Rs 30,000. A team at Microsoft Research centre has developed a new technology that transforms a 2D smartphone camera in to a 3D infrared camera. This new camera sensor will then somewhat work like a Kinect to map the depth data and track a user's hand gestures and face. Oppo is all set to launch the N1 Mini today at an event to happen in Delhi. The phone will be the smaller version of the Oppo N1, which was launched early this year.
