Google has acquired an instant text messaging based service named Emu which was known for featuring a built-in virtual assistant in the app. First reported by Techcrunch, the announcement of the acquisition was made through a blog post by EMU team, however size of the deal has not yet been disclosed by these companies. Emu service was created by Gummi Hafsteinsson, who had a stint in Google for its Maps and Voice Search services, and was one of the leads behind Apple s Siri virtual assistant.
Google seems to finally bring multiple-user profiles for Android smartphones on its Android L project, which could allow users to maintain different user profiles on a single smartphone. First noticed by Android Police, one of Google s team member has confirmed it to a user on Android Issue Tracker that the development team at Google has implemented multiple-user profile feature, which will be available in the next public build of Android.
Hungama has released its Pro service on iOS in order to expand its reach to the users. With the Pro service, which is already available on Android platform, users will be able to stream audio as well as video even in the offline mode or when Internet is not available.

It has only been a few days since Flipkart raised $1 billion in funding and Amazon announced to invest $2 billion in its Indian business, and now Tata Sons chairman Ratan Tata is reportedly showing interest in making personal investment in Snapdeal, an Indian e-commerce player. According to the Times of India, Ratan Tata is likely to buy out an early investor in Snapdeal through a secondary sale. Though it does not give information about the size of the deal or when the deal would be completed, it is likely that Tata would hold a minor stake in the company.
Motorola has confirmed that the Moto X will be getting Google s newest Android L (5.0) update. The company s VP of product management, Punit Sony has confirmed it to a Google+ user that the Moto X will receive the Android L update, which was unveiled recently at I/0 2014.
WhatsApp has discreetly rolled out a Beta update for Android Wear devices to make it more user-friendly for its smartwatch users. With this update, WhatsApp users on Android-based wearable devices will now be able to get a preview of received messages as well as reply to messages directly from their smart wrist-wearable. The most interesting feature in the update is that it now let users send voice replies in the message thread.

India s Home ministry has reportedly asked for re-imposition of the 74 percent foreign investment cap in telecom sector, a year after the previously ruling party had passed 100 percent FDI in telecom sector in India. According to ET, the Home ministry has sent a note to the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion which suggests that it wants to review the telecom FDI policy over concerns about security of data, considering revelation about surveillance programmes like the Prism (US) and Tempora (UK) that snooped on users personal data.
