Social networking giant Facebook is reportedly working on its Facebook Messenger app for iOS devices. News is abuzz that Indian handset vendor Karbonn Mobiles is geared up to launch its own instant messenger for mobile phones (similar to BBM or Samsung's ChatOn service) which are priced below Rs 5,000. According to an Economic Times report, the vendor will also introduce its pushmail service within the next 10 days. The instant messaging and e-mail services will be offered free of cost for the first few months except for data charges from the operator.

Bharti Airtel had deployed ZTE to supply and manage its 4G LTE network in Kolkata last month. However, this time around, the carrier has appointed Huawei to set up its 4G network in the state of Karnataka. Under this agreement, Huawei will deliver the LTE solutions comprising of network infrastructure and devices. Huawei has partnered with Bharti Airtel in Sri Lanka and is also the 3G provider in the state of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Besides, they are also providing pan-India 4G optical network, Carrier Ethernet infrastructure and NGN switches.
BlackBerry smartphone maker RIM has revealed which all gaming titles are in the pipeline for its PlayBook tablet and for its upcoming BlackBerry 10 devices. After Angry Birds Space, the second most anticipated title which has made its way to the PlayBook is the Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. These announcements have come from RIM'S Head of Gaming, Anders Jeppson, who revealed these upcoming titles on Twitter. Some pretty big names in mobile gaming are getting set to launch popular titles such as Halfbrick with Jetpack Joyride along with 4 others, SEGA with Sonic 4, Unity with Smashcops, GlitchSoft with Star Marine and Fishlabs with Galaxy on Fire 2.
Instagram, the popular photo-sharing app, now has more than 50 million users and adds roughly about 5 million users on a weekly basis. The app was recently gobbled up by social networking giant Facebook last month for $1 billion. According to Mashable, Instagram hit 30 million users during the beginning of April and then crossed 40 million users by mid-April. This is of course tremendous growth considering the app had only 15 million users when this year started.
