Just when you thought there couldn't be another Samsung Galaxy Note 8 leak, there's another surprise. While it is already known that Samsung will use the Infinity Display for the Note 8, the latest leak suggests that the display could feature a Pressure Sensitive display. Just like 3D Touch on iPhones, and Force Touch on select MacBooks, the new technology will help Samsung eliminate the need to have a physical home button (which the company did away with in the Samsung Galaxy S8) and also provide multiple menu options right from within the display.
Andy Rubin's Essential Phone managed to bring the wow factor to smartphones when it was unveiled earlier this year. However, despite assuring users that the devices would start shipping by the end of June, there is still no sign of the Essential Phones. Essential President Niccolo De Masi promised that the availability date will be revealed next week, and now Andy Rubin is teasing the device further by sharing production photos. The images are not elaborate nor do they mention the availability date, but Rubin assures that mass production is under way and the smartphones will be arriving soon.
HMD Global brought a healthy dose of nostalgia with the announcement of the Nokia 3310 handset during MWC 2017. The feature phone lacked one key feature - 3G connectivity. Nokia is now expected to unveil a 3G variant of the iconic feature phone. Last month, a reported 3G variant of the device cleared FCC certification, giving rise rumors that the announcement of the device isn't far off. A recent report now states that the Nokia 3310 3G will not arrive before late September or early October. However, there has been no official word from HMD Global with regards to the new 3G model.
Reliance MyJio app has managed to cross a 100 million downloads on Google Play Store. Reliance Jio is seeing growing subscriber base, along with app downloads and usage. The MyJio app helps users stay updated with their Jio accounts, recharge on the go and check balance data. From the MyJio app, you can download other Jio apps such as JioCinema, JioMusic, JioMags, and JioMovies among others.
Andy Rubin, the founder of Android and Essential, has managed to raise $300 million in funding during the first round. The funding comes from some of the big names in the world of tech like Amazon, Tencent, Foxconn, and more. Essential is one of the newest entrants in the smartphone space after being conceptualized and set up by Andy Rubin, the once co-founder of Android at Google. The smartphone was finally unveiled earlier this year though it is yet to go up on sale in the US.
Micromax has taken to Twitter to tease its upcoming smartphone, Evok Dual Note. The teaser does not give any hint as to what the features and specifications of the smartphone will be but rather, just talks of an impressive camera. Micromax has been struggling to reclaim the position it once had in the Indian market and is looking at expanding its range of offering by innovating and announcing newer products. The teaser on twitter is accompanied by a video, hinting at what to expect from the smartphone camera.
OnePlus has added three new icon packs on Google Play for users. The icon packs support all the apps OnePlus comes inbuilt with. While the first icon pack is the standard one that the devices ship with, there are two new packs: OnePlus Icon Pack - Round and OnePlus Icon Pack - Square that bring a change to the shape of the app icons. Currently, the icon packs are supported by only the OnePlus 5 and it's unclear if any of the updates will come to other OnePlus smartphones. The company has already included the icons with the OxygenOS latest version that was unveiled with the 2017 flagship.
Google announced the Play Protect feature back in May during Google I/O 2017 but it is only now that users are finally getting to see the update on the Play Store. Play Protect scans all apps in Google Play to ensure that the apps are safe to be downloaded. Additionally, the new feature also scans apps that are downloaded and in use on your Android smartphone, alerting you if there is any discrepancy in the security settings and if the permissions of the app have changed.
LG V30 has been one of the worst kept secrets and pretty much everything about the smartphone has already been revealed. LG recently announced that the smartphone will officially be launched on August 31, at IFA in Berlin. Recently, video leaks from HitRecord showed the smartphone in all its glory, though it was soon pulled down. And the one thing which was known and confirmed by the video is that the smartphone will come with a dual camera setup at the back. Considering everything about the LG V30 is already known, the company went ahead and revealed the most special camera detail - the aperture.
