When it comes to India’s smartphone market, the hotly-contested budget segment is all but dominated by Chinese names like Xiaomi and Realme. However, there are quite a few domestic players in the fray as well, one of them being Lava.

Back in April, the Noida-based company launched its Z91 smartphone at Rs 9,999. Now, Lava has slashed the entry-level smartphone’s priced by Rs 2,000, making it even more affordable. The company announced the same via a tweet.

Now available for Rs 7,999, Lava Z91 is powered by a MediaTek MT6739 SoC, having a quad-core CPU. The chipset is paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, and there’s also a dedicated expansion slot that can take up microSD cards of up to 128GB. The smartphone features a 5.7-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 720×1440 pixels and an 18:9 aspect ratio. The software aboard is the now-dated Android Nougat.

Having a glass finish, the Z91 has a single-lens rear camera system at the back, comprised of a 13-megapixel module and LED flash. Up front, the smartphone features a single 8-megapixel module with LED flash for selfies and video calls. Talking about connectivity options, Lava Z91 has everything from Wi-Fi to microUSB. There’s even a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and face unlock. Backing up the whole package is a 3,000mAh battery.
