The Galaxy Note 9 won t look radically different compared to the existing Galaxy Note 8. However, it is expected to come with minor design refinements. While the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ comes with vertically placed camera module and a fingerprint scanner, the Galaxy Note 9, will feature a horizontal one, just like the Note 8. However, the fingerprint sensor placement will now be under the camera module, which will not only ensure that it is within your finger s reach, but also ensure that you don t accidentally touch the camera lens.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 specifications

The retail box of the Galaxy Note 9 has been leaked, and it spills beans over the smartphone’s specifications. It will flaunt a 6.4-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 18.5:9, which will be negligibly larger than the Note 8 that comes with a 6.3-inch display. Under the hood, the smartphone could be powered by a Snapdragon 845 SoC in the US and Europe, whereas India and Asian countries are likely to get Exynos 9810 SoC.

Talking about memory, some rumors hint that the Galaxy Note 9 will come with 8GB of RAM, whereas benchmark listings show the base variant with 6GB of RAM. We will have to wait until Samsung makes the smartphone official.

The Galaxy S9 is offered in 3 storage variants 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. In case of Note 9, rumors hint that the base variant will start as 128GB, while the other two variants will be the 256GB and 512GB ones. It is also expected to come with a hybrid microSD card slot, to let you expand the storage even further.

A new report gives away more specifications of the phone, including the QHD+ resolution on the AMOLED screen, 6GB of RAM on the 128GB storage variant, the 4,000mAh battery and IP68 water and dust resistance. Samsung Pay and bundled AKG headphones are also expected with the Samsung Galaxy Note 9.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 cameras

Much like the Galaxy S9+, the Galaxy Note 9 will also be getting the dual aperture camera, and it is evident from the renders. The primary camera is expected to come with a 12-megapixel sensor of aperture f/1.5 f/2.4, and the secondary camera of 12-megapixel resolution with aperture f/2.4, which will be a telephoto lens for 2X lossless zoom, and OIS.

Rumors hint that the Galaxy Note 9 will let you record 960fps slow-motion videos in HD resolution for 4-seconds, 2-seconds more than the Galaxy S9 series. Up front, an 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calling is expected. It will also likely support AR Emojis that Samsung launched with the Galaxy S9-series. The camera on the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is also slated to have AI-based features, including modes that will that will optimize the camera functionality according to the scene detected, such as landscape, portrait and food, among others.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 S Pen, accessories

The S Pen is the heart and soul of the Note-series, something that differentiates it from other smartphones. But, over the years, not a lot of things have changed. A recent FCC certification hinted at Bluetooth support for the S Pen, and it will be biggest upgrade to the stylus. A new report also suggests that the S Pen will be offered in multiple color options.

With Bluetooth connectivity, you could use the S Pen as a remote shutter to click photos. You could also use it to remotely control music playback on your smartphone. On the software side, the Air Command is set to get new features, but as of now, there is no word about it. Accessories of the Galaxy Note 9 have also been leaked, and you can see them below.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 battery

No matter which flagship smartphone you purchase, battery life is always a major concern, and why not, you have the powerful chipset, high-res display and software eating the resources. After the Note 7 debacle, Samsung is reportedly taking a bold step, and the Note 9 is expected to come with a larger 4,000mAh battery that could last for up to two days. Will it meet the said claim is something that we will have to wait and see.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 OS

Google will reportedly release the next iteration of its mobile OS, Android P, on August 20. And while a bunch of smartphones already run on Android P Developer Beta, the Note 9 is not likely to run Android P at launch. Instead, the smartphone is expected to launch with Android Oreo, and will later be updated to Android P. Recent Samsung phones with Android Oreo support Project Treble, and it will be interesting to see how quickly Samsung can update to the latest version.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 pricing

As of now, there is no word on the pricing, but most reports indicate that it could be priced similar to the Note 8. In India, the Note 8 was launched for Rs 67,900, and was sold only in one variant. With the Note 9, there are chances wherein the base variant may be priced similarly, while the top-end variant may exceed the Rs 75,000 barrier.
