LYF Mobile is a part of Reliance Digital, which is the retail arm of Reliance Industries. The company debuted ahead of Reliance Jio's commercial with a range of Android-based smartphones that cater to entry-level, budget and mid-range segment. The brand became one of the top five smartphone vendors in the country withing the first few months of its launch. LYF Mobile's product portfolio has four series – Flame, Wind, Water and Earth. With a starting price of Rs 2,999, one of the key highlights of all the LYF-branded smartphones is the support for VoLTE for HD voice calling, which is one of the key offerings of Reliance Jio 4G network. LYF also sells the JioFi portable mobile hotspot device, which is powered by LYF Mobile.
The LYF Flame-series caters to the entry-level segment with prices starting at Rs 2,999 and going up to Rs 4,199. There are eight smartphones in the Flame-series right from Flame 1 to Flame 8, each boasting different design, hardware and features. The Flame 3, Flame 4, Flame 5 and Flame 6 are all priced at Rs 2,999. All four smartphones feature a 4-inch display, 1.5GHz quad-core processor with 512MB of RAM. What changes is the design, onboard storage capacity 4GB/8GB, front and rear cameras, and the battery capacity too. Next is the Flame 2 and Flame 7, both of which are priced at Rs 3,599 and Rs 3,499, respectively. Now, while the display size (4-inch), onboard storage (8GB), RAM (1GB), and cameras remain the same on both smartphones, the difference comes in the processor clock speed and battery capacity. Lastly, there are Flame 1 and Flame 8, both of which are priced at Rs 4,199. Both smartphones feature a 4.5-inch display, quad-core processors clocked at 1.1GHz, 1GB of RAM and 8GB onboard storage, the changes come in the form of battery capacity, cameras and design.
Next is the Wind-series with seven smartphones Wind 1 to Wind 7 with HD display, priced between Rs 4,999 and Rs 8,299. The Wind 6 is the basic smartphone with 5-inch display, 1.1GHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB onboard storage, 5-megapixel front and rear camera and 2,250mAh battery. The Wind 5 is priced slightly higher at Rs 5,599 with same set of specifications, and the only difference in rear camera (8-megapixel) and battery of 2,000mAh. Then there is Wind 4, Wind 7 and Wind 1, priced at Rs 6,799, Rs 6,999 and Rs 6,899, respectively. The Wind 7 features 2GB of RAM, 1.3GHz quad-core processor and 16GB onboard storage. The Wind 4 comes with same set of specifications as the Wind 7, with just slightly under clocked 1GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and a massive 4,000mAh battery. The Wind 1 comes with a 1.2GHz processor and 2,300mAh battery, with rest of the specifications same as the Wind 4. Then there is Wind 3 priced at Rs 7,499 and featuring 5.5-inch display, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage and 2,920mAh battery, whereas the Wind 2 is priced at Rs 8,299 and comes with a 6-inch display, with rest of the specifications same as Wind 3.
Next is Water-series with nine smartphones, Water 1 to Water 9, priced between Rs 7,599 to Rs 14,699. Out of the nine models, seven feature a 5-inch HD display, whereas two feature full HD display. One of the highlights of the Water series smartphones is that they come with metal frame, while some smartphones such as the Water 7 featuring an all-metal unibody design with a fingerprint scanner. All smartphones feature 13-megapixel rear cameras with LED flash. The Water 1 and Water 8 are selfie-centric smartphones with 5-megapixel selfie cameras and LED flash. Also, while the Water 1, Water 2, Water 3, Water 4, Water 5 and Water 6 boast 2GB of RAM, the Water 7, Water 8 and Water 9 are equipped with 3GB of RAM.
Lastly, the flagship Earth-series has two smartphones Earth 1 and Earth 2, priced at Rs 19,499 and Rs 19,999. The Earth 1 features full metal frame and glass back design, and a 5.5-inch full HD display. Under the hood is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 octa-core chipset paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB onboard storage. It comes with dual camera setup on the back, 13-megapixel + 2-megapixel, where camera captures photos, whereas the other one captures depth, allowing users to refocus and add DSLR-like blur effects to the photos. For selfies, there is 5-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash.
The LYF Earth 2, sports a metal frame and glass back design. It features a 5-inch full HD display with 2.5D curved glass. Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor, it is paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB onboard storage. With 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF and LED flash, the smartphone also features a 13-megapixel front facing camera with LED flash. The smartphone also comes with a physical home button and fingerprint scanner embedded within.
There is one more product in the LYF portfolio – JioFi portable hotspot dongle. It comes with a 2,300mAh battery that can offer continuous usage of up to eight hours on single charge. It also comes with a microSD card slot and support up to 32GB, which can also be used as wireless pen drive.
