After the scant success of Assassin s Creed titles like Unity and Syndicate, Ubisoft took an extra year to get things together. And then came Origins last year which put the franchise right back at the top. Assassin s Creed Origins took major leap back in time to Ancient Egypt during the Ptolemaic Era (49 47 BC) as we witnessed the birth of the Assassin s Creed order. And from what scraps of rumors can be gathered right now, it seems Ubisoft wants to continue the present timeline of the series. And according to the report on Comicbook.com, there have been hints of the series going to Greece for a while now.
Liam Robertson who wrote the report on Comicbook.com reports that he had been told by sources in the company back in 2015 that the series would be going to Ancient Egypt and Greece, though Egypt would be the focus. And the source later informed him that the team had decided to keep Greece for the next game and focus on Egypt for the present game, which is Origins. But he does warn reader to take this report with a pinch of salt.
The action in Origins mostly takes place in Egypt and we are guessing that Greece is a very viable option as the setting for the next game due to the storyline. After the events of Origins, Aya who is now known as Amunet is in Greece, with characters like Caesar and Brutus in play. This is a strong hint that the next one would pick up the story where Origins left off.
Besides this, the developers seem to have finally found another memorable protagonist in Bayek who had the same appeal and stay value on the audience as Ezio did. Bayek could be the element Ubisoft has been looking for since Ezio for the series.
