When Bethesda announced its next game in the Fallout series, the Fallout 76 yesterday with a trailer, people thought this was another single-player game. But what Kotaku has to report is something much different from what people had first imagined on watching the trailer.
According to the report, Fallout 76 is set to be an online survival RPG that will be set in the lines of DayZ or Rust. It follows the trend that has set apart the Fallout series with classic American songs, a retro styled TV or a radio, and a panning shot of antiques. This led people to believe that this might just be a remaster of the Fallout 3 or maybe a New Vegas-ish spin off in a new setting. But some anonymous people confirmed with Kotaku that this is in fact an experimental release in the post-apocalyptic series of Fallout, and is a completely new game. Despite the teaser being deceptive and indicative to a regular Fallout game.
According to these anonymous sources, Fallout 76 was initially designed as a multiplayer version of Fallout 4, which has since evolved into something much more. And the new game will include quests and stories along with base building, and other survival elements.
The game is said to be named after “Vault 76” that was mentioned in both Fallout 3 and 4 games that was supposed to open 20 years after the Nuclear War. This is a much earlier setting compared to Fallout 3 and 4 which are set 200 years after the Nuclear war.
Bethesda has not provided any new details of the game yet, and more is expected at E3 2018 conference that is set to be held on June 10.
