China has always had a massive presence and impact on the international gaming scene and there is no doubt that the trends in China make worldwide impact. And if recent reports are to believed, it seems that China is looking to ban popular battle royale games PUBG, Fortnite among other games nationwide. It seems that the Chinese government has shortlisted 20 games to ban and is looking to permanently ban 9 of those.

The Chinese government has reasoned that these games are apparently propagating “incorrect values” which include blood, violence and nudity. The Chinese Government’s Online Ethics Review Committee is apparently looking to ban nine games completely while others will have to fix some of the recommended aspects of the game to continue to be legal in the country.

Games like Overwatch, PUBG and Fortnite have been nominated to be banned completely because they are in clear violation of the code that has been propagated by the government. World of Warcraft chatrooms have been apparently found to be extremely toxic while LOL or League of Legends and Overwatch have been categorized for having “overly revealing female characters” in the game.

Games like Counter Strike Global Offensive haven’t been banned but certain skins like the USP-S | Kill Confirmed skin which shows violent images like a skull on the gun have been banned. Here’s a list of the games and the recommended action against them that was apparent compiled by the Chinese Government’s Online Ethics Review Committee which was posted on Reddit by user u/ZeroWolfe547.
