Donkey Kong’s original arcade version is something almost every person who played games in the early 90s has seen. It is an iconic game to say the least, could even term it legendary because this is the game that introduced Mario to the world. And Nintendo had made it especially difficult to acquire an arcade-perfect version of the game from anywhere without acquiring an actual arcade cabinet that had been produced for the game.

And now Nintendo has finally made a move which says that the wait is over and re-launched Donkey Kong on the Switch for a price of $7.99 (Rs 543.52 approx) available through the Arcade Archives series.

The re-release contains three versions of the game, first the Japanese original version of the game, an updated version of the Japanese original which is more common and the international version. Players can rotate the Switch 90 degrees which will form a portrait format to play the game as if it were on the arcade screen.

The cut-down NES version of the game has been released on various platforms and Rare rebuilt the arcade version from new code in order to include it in Donkey Kong 64 without legal trouble. So technically that means that players were not really playing the original Donkey Kong game.

Along with this Nintendo has also announced that it will be releasing another classic Arcade Archives game next month, Sky Skipper. This game was never formally released and only a few arcade machines were ever released, and Nintendo extracted the game from the only existing cabinet left.
