Popular multiplayer online game, Fortnite, has been named in a new report that highlights one of the demerits of the game. Fans who play Fortnite regularly tend to go overboard in how long they spend playing the game, and it is causing divorces as per Divorce Online, a UK-based website that offers services to couples going through a divorce. The report says that one of the reasons for couples getting a divorce is gaming addiction. And one of the games that comes up in the list of 200 divorce petitions filed in the UK is Fortnite. There are other addictions to online activities mentioned in the report as well and those consist of games, porn and social media. These have been accounted for one of the reasons people in the UK are filing for divorce.
“These numbers equate to roughly 5 percent of the 4,665 petitions we have handled since the beginning of the year and as one of the largest filers of divorce petitions in the UK is a pretty good indicator,” says the Divorce Online report.
And the scenario could even be more severe because the report is only from the UK, and other countries have not been included. Epic Games has not made a statement in this regard. Though this is not the first time Fortnite has disrupted things. PornHub reports that it has seen dips in its traffic around every new update that Fortnite gets.

Gaming addiction has been listed as a potentially harmful technology-related behavior by the WHO, and it has been seen to create conflict in romantic relationships.
