Fortnite usually does not delay its updates unless the developers find some game breaking bug or problem with it. And now it seems they have found out a problem with the new High Stakes and v5.40 patch, which is why Epic Games declared that the patch will not be hitting the servers yesterday as scheduled, and will instead be delayed to later this week.
And now we know that Epic Games had to delay the launch of the update because there was a “critical controller issue”. And now the update is set to hit the Fortnite servers on September 6 (today). The servers will be down to implement the update 5.40 to the main game servers. Once the servers come back online, players will have to download and install the new update.
This update is bringing a new jewel heist mode called “The Getaway” where players will have to retrieve one of the four jewels that will be dropped on the map inside safes that need to be unlocked. The first four teams that will be able to acquire these jewels and then use the getaway cars to escape will be the winners. And other squads can battle the ones with the jewels to get it.

There is a new set of skins available as well, that have white suits and four different options for face masks. This event will only be available for a limited time and will then disappear. This update will also be introducing the Grappler which is the new grapple gun.
