After servers of the Epic Games’ Fortnite were temporarily down for upkeep last week, the games’ servers are now down once again for some “emergency” maintenance.
Fortnite Games posted on Twitter few hours ago saying that the servers of the game will be offline for some time today. The tweet further said that currently an ETA on when the servers will be back can not be confirmed.
On the status page of Fortnite, the identified problem is listed saying “the initial fix was unable to handle returning traffic, and we’re again experiencing issues with login success.” The page reads that Fortnite has already started to work to mitigate the issue, and are starting to see recovery.
It was also identified that login was blocked across all Epic endpoints, including games, websites, and the Epic Games Launcher. Apparently that was happening due to a database failure which the portal is “working to resolve as quickly as possible”.

Considering the current popularity of the game, if the maintenance lasts longer, it could actually prove very expensive for Epic Games, which is earning millions of dollars in revenue through Fortnite.
The last update for Fortnite brought in Vending Machines, which would provide weapons and equipment in exchange of materials like wood, stone and metal. The update introduced a bunch of gameplay mechanics changes as well. The game goes head-to-head with PUBG Mobile, which is another popular battle royale-style game for smartphones. While PUBG is available on both iOS and Android, Fortnite is currently only available on iOS, with an Android version in the works.
