God of War is the latest offering from Santa Monica studio. And much like the PlayStation 4 exclusive game of last year, Horizon: Zero Dawn, God of War is also reportedly going to feature a performance mode for a smoother gaming experience. God of War game director Cory Barlog, answered a curious fan s query on Twitter recently about whether a PS4 user needs to upgrade to a PS4 Pro for a similar experience. To which Barlog replied, Nope, you don’t have to, but if you do 4k is AMAZING, if you have a 4k TV, of course. If you don’t, we have a performance mode that puts the extra power to good use and makes the game run so so smooth!
This is not the first time that games from Sony had this feature. And what Performance Mode essential does is lower the resolution in order to retain a higher FPS count. By our calculation, a PS4 may be able to run the game on 1080p resolution at 30 FPS, as for the PS4 Pro, we could expect the frame rates to be higher.
God of War is set to be released by Santa Monica studios on April 20, and is the eighth instalment in the series. Here, Kratos is shown to have moved on from killing the gods of the Greek pantheon, and tackles the gods of the Norse pantheon. This time, his journey is not alone, and he has his son Atreus with him, who is in training. This is the first time a God of War game will have RPG elements according to the game studio. God of War is a Sony title, and will be exclusively available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro.
