This statement is in contrast with what Xbox chief Phil Spencer announced back in 2016 when he stated that Project Scorpio will support high-end VR . As reported by The Verge, the company had previously teamed up with Oculus to add support for Xbox controllers on Oculus Rift, speculations were floating on the internet about Scorpio working on Rift but that did not happen.

Later, Microsoft also announced an entire lineup of VR headsets including mixed reality content that would be coming to Xbox in 2018. It is likely that it may be because of the failure of its Kinect Motion controller.
