Every fictional character has a perfect real world person who can play it. But more often than not, that person does not turn out to be the one to play that character and the role goes to someone else. In the case of Nathan Drake, the protagonist of the famed video game series Uncharted that debuted in the year 2007, perfect real world counterpart according to the fans has been Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Castle fame).
And now, it seems to be one of those extremely rare times when fans have someone who’s heard their wishes and acted upon it. Tapped Out director Allan Ungar, has directed an informal fan-made short film where Fillion dons the mantle of the Uncharted protagonist, something that fans feel he was meant to do.
The way the film has been shot is reminiscent of the cutscenes and action in the game. This goes to show that the director is actually a big fan of the series, and has been tried to recreate the experience for the fans with accuracy.
The 15-minute short film captures the essence of the game, and the characters do an admirable job of representing their game counterparts. Check out the film here.
Besides Fillion, we get to see another big name in Stephen Lang (Avatar, Don’t Breathe fame) who stars in the role of Sully, Drake’s sidekick. Other actors include Mircea Monroe (Episodes, Hart of Dixie fame) who plays Elena, Geno Segers (Banshee fame) who is the baddie here and Ernie Reyes Jr. (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze fame) as the torturer, El Tigre.
