There’s a new hero over at the Overwatch town and people are gushing over just how cute it is. After teasing the release of a new hero for a few days on Twitter, Overwatch has finally unveiled its newest addition to the roster of heroes, known as Wrecking Ball. The new hero is a mech tank that is piloted by a brilliant and quite cuddly hamster.

There were some clues about the new hero like a wrecking ball that rattled down the road in the first teaser, and people assumed that it would be Hammond based on the clues that were available on the walls and posters. The final teaser seems to clear things up and shows the face of hero number 28 of Overwatch to be a chubby hamster.

The new hamster hero is named Hammond who is part of the missing specimen is a scientific experiment from the Horizon Lunar Colony. The research was supposed to improve the intelligence of common gorillas to the level of scientists and intellectuals. The most famous graduate of this program that was funded by Lucheng Interstellar is Winston who is another hero.

Winston and Hammond were part of this program and have been marked “missing” in the Lucheng’s systems after a coup where the subjects went rogue and ejected the scientists into space. Winston has already been seen in the trailer and Hammond was a mystery until now.

Hammond’s mech is similar to what we have seen on the Wrecking Ball champion from the fighter pits of Junkertown, hence we may assess a connection there. If this turns out to be true then Wrecking Ball will be the third hero from Australia after Roadhog and Junkrat.

Here’s the origin story of Wrecking Ball:
