And now Niantic is finally going to introduce Pok mon trading as well as friends feature to the game, two years after the initial launch of the game. Though there is a twist to how this will be done that makes it similar to the core Pokemon games like Pokemon Sun and Moon on Nintendo 3DS. To add friends using the new feature, users will have to send a secure Friends Request using a trainer code that will then be acceptable by the other party. This sounds similar to the friend request system adopted by Nintendo for its consoles. Friends in Pok mon Go can team up to take on Gyms and Raid Battles and achieve Friendship level milestone rewards on their way to Best Friend status.
From the sounds of it people will be able to trade Pok mons with friends but only when in close proximity. This puts a restriction on long distance trading which reminds us of the Nintendo 3DS days where users would have to keep the two devices next to each other for the trade to happen. Niantic will offer a bonus when two Pok mon that were caught far from each other are traded.
There is no official date of when the new feature may be rolled out by Niantic for Pok mon Go.
