PUBG’s competition with Fortnite has never been more intense than now and to make matters better for itself, PUBG developers Bluehole is bringing in quite a few new features. But the most important move among these has to be the fact that PUBG is on a sale on Steam for the first time ever.
Ever since it’s launch, PUBG has had a constant pricing of Rs 999 on Steam, and now it has a 33 percent discount with a new price of Rs 669 that is going to go on till July 5. The dev announced on the Steam post that PUBG has now sold over 50 million units worldwide, and this discount is to celebrate the occasion.
“With PUBG Mobile included, there are now over 400 million registered PUBG players worldwide. Over 87 million people play PUBG every day across all our platforms,” said the post.
Besides the sale, PUBG devs have also announced that they have been working on an Event Pass that is all set to release with the Sanhok map on June 22. The post says that it is “a new way to unlock new content in PUBG” and more on the content will be revealed soon. This is a new method that the devs thought about as a method to introduce premium content on PUBG.
Bluehole says that it introduced the crate system as “a fun system outside of the main game experience through item trading.” The new Event Pass is set to be a system that will be an alternative to the crate and key system to earn items. The blog says, “The Event Pass is designed to reflect the opinions of players who wanted a trackable progression-related system, and at the same time allows you to unlock new content in PUBG in a way that is different from the crate and key system.”
Players will be able to play dozens of missions, including daily missions, weekly missions, and Sanhok-specific missions with the release of Event Pass. For players who don’t want to pay for the pass, can temporarily unlock many of the items and earn one special item permanently. However, they can also permanently unlock exclusive reward items by paying to unlock the pass and completing certain missions to “level up” the pass.
For those that are hesitant about buying the Pass, but want to play the missions, will can do that. The mission progress is always tracked, even for those that don’t have the pass so they can buy the Event Pass late in the event and still get all the rewards earned. And finally, users will be able to unlock one free chance to change their in-game PUBG name simply by playing and completing missions while available.
