With PUBG Mobile going down for scheduled maintenance a couple of days ago, game developer Tencent was setting the game up to bring new features and improvements to the popular game. With the maintenance complete, the 0.8.0 update is now being pushed to PUBG Mobile users through the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. The update brings all of the changes, and is rather large in size at 1.5GB (on Android). While there are many small changes to the game, the key difference is the addition of the much-anticipated Sanhok map for the game’s popular Classic mode. This brings the number of available maps in the mode to three, as the previous maps Erangel and Miramar also remain in the game. How to update to PUBG Mobile 0.8.0

To update to PUBG Mobile 0.8.0, you simply need to update the app on your smartphone’s official app store, once the update shows as available to you. If you’re in India, the update is already rolling out to most users and is available to download. The update package is large at 1.5GB, and includes an initial base update followed by a larger additional file.

Once you’ve updated the app, you’ll have to go into the game and download the Miramar and Sanhok maps once again, while the Erangel map is already stored. These are smaller downloads, and shouldn’t take too long on a fast connection. Once the maps are downloaded, you can select them when starting a new Classic game.

What’s new in PUBG 0.8.0

New map: Sanhok

As mentioned, the biggest change is the addition of the Sanhok map. The map is significantly smaller than the Erangel and Miramar maps, so you’ll likely see quicker matches with more fighting as soon as you sky-dive into the game. Moving around the map is quicker, and there are plenty of structures to gather resources as well.

New weapons and vehicles

The Sanhok map also brings new weapons and vehicles for matches played on that map. You now have the QBZ rifle (which replaces the Scar rifle on the map, and uses 5.56mm ammo), the flare gun to call in air-drops if you’re in the play zone and a vehicle if you’re outside it, the muscle car and bulletproof UBZ (the game’s preferred vehicle).

Other changes

Various other smaller changes have also been implemented. When you start matches on Erangel, the waiting area is now different. Additionally, you also get ten apples to practice your throwing during the wait for the match to start. Other changes include the ability to send game invites to friends, an improved chat system, season data, anti-cheating measures and more.
