PUBG Mobile took on its competitor Fortnite in the mobile arena in May this year when it launched its Android and iOS versions together. Fortnite, at that point of time, had only released its iOS version and took a while to come to Android. But following that Fortnite s revenue from only the iOS version was more than PUBG on all the mobile platforms. But this Black Friday week, things turned around for PUBG, and it seems to have taken the lead in terms of average revenue. Last week saw some real big spending for Tencent s PUBG Mobile, which is estimated to be around 2.7 times more than the revenue that was earned in the week prior. This increase amounted to $12 million, up from $4.5 million in terms of currency. This includes spending in the game from the App Store as well as the Google Play Store. This was apparently 43 percent more than the Fortnite earned from iOS devices during that period of time. This resulted in the first week since the monetization of PUBG that it was able to out earn Epic Games Fortnite in terms of player based earnings.
In terms of spending on the games in iOS alone, PUBG Mobile had gross earning of 20 percent less than Fortnite the previous week. But it managed to outstrip Fortnite on November 21 and 22. This resulted in PUBG Mobile earning $1.7 million each day in the last week while Fortnite only earned $1.2 million each day.
