The popular battle royale game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds or PUBG for short has taken the world by storm. It was released as an Early Access test last year on Steam and took off like a rocket. Even the devs didn’t expect a response as good as it had. It sold millions of copies despite being priced at Rs 999 in India. For the record PUBG is a battle royale shooter where 100 players are pitted against each other to see who is the last person standing. The concept caught on so well that it spawned other games like grass but only one could rival it, which is Fortnite.
But PUBG’s rise to popularity didn’t slow down at all last year and it caught on with even non-gamers to become a phenomenon. Websites and parody channels took up PUBG as the major theme for most of their meme material and suddenly it was all over social media. Even people who had not played the game knew about it. PUBG was first released for PC and then an Xbox version came out late last year. Following that this year, PUBG launched on iOS and Android which was called PUBG Mobile and then the popularity of the game really hit off.
And India is one of those countries where PUBG has gained immense popularity. And one of the direct results of this popularity seems to be a new restaurant that has opened up in Jaipur which is themed after PUBG.
