Sea of Thieves has made a huge splash since it was launched a couple of days back on March 19. And since it has managed to garner so many players, that the servers started buckling under the load.
And to capitalize on this popularity publisher Microsoft has come up with a companion app for the game for mobile platforms of Android and iOS. This app lets players place markers on the in-app map from the game which in the game is filled with pirates. This helps keep a track of things for people and mark the islands from beforehand.
Players can even mark animals in their specific islands if they have been having trouble in game finding that particular animal for some time specific mission perhaps.
Sea of Thieves lets you operate a huge pirate ship in cooperation with a large number of other players, or a small crew or maybe a small boat alone. But everyone agrees that the sea in Sea of Thieves can be a very intimidating place. The companion app comes in service here and helps find those frustrating islands which just can’t be found while roaming about. Though some might agree that this takes the fun out of the exploration bit.
The app has filters which can be applied on the map to find specific targets and it even updates the markers of your friends when the change theirs on their app. The search can be refined using keywords as well. The developer of the game, Rare, does not have anything with the map and it has been developed by Microsoft.
The app is downloadable for free from the App Store and the Play Store, with an option to pay to remove the in game ads. While Sea of Thieves for Xbox One and PC is available for a price of $59.99 (Rs 4,000 approx).
