Sony’s PlayStation VR headsets seem like they have not slowed down in their march. Back in the fall of 2017, Sony had announced that it has hit the 2 million mark when it came to PSVR sales. And now at the end of July 2018, Sony announced that the latest numbers of its PSVR sales has hit 3 million units. And though this means that the overall popularity of the device has fallen since its launch in 2016, it has still shown more promise than its competitors.
Even with all the negative reactions against VR out there from the media right now, PSVR seems to have carved out its own space. Sony has managed to ship more than 21.9 million PSVR games and experiences in this time, which is testament to its success among peers.
And Sony has legitimate reason to brag about its superior sales compared to its competitors, that is the Oculus VR and the HTC Vive. Sony’s PSVR success is owed to the fact that it uses a PlayStation 4 as its driver device and not some over the top costly PC with beefy specs. And the availability of almost 340 games is also a very big bonus of the PSVR users, along with high quality content.
And to commemorate this instance, Sony has decided to announce the launch two upcoming games to PSVR. Creed: Rise to Glory, which is a VR boxing game, will be arriving on PSVR on September 25 and pre-order has already begun. Evasion, which is a Sci-fi first person shooter has also gone on pre-order and will be made available on September 9.
