Xbox X One launched at E3 2017

Xbox One is one of the popular gaming consoles from Microsoft, and the software giant regularly rolls out software updates with bug fixes and new features. Last week, Microsoft announced a new update with a wave of new features such as ‘Next Achievements’ that lets you track upcoming Achievement unlocks, Game Hubs in Guide Menu to offer quick highlights, and more. Lastly, Microsoft is also bringing the long-requested feature that first made its debut on Xbox 360, the ‘Do Not Disturb’ status.

Essentially, the new option will let gamers mute notifications and other distractions while playing a game or watching a movie. When the status is activated, your friends won’t be able to distract you with messages or chat invites. Sadly, as of now, the feature is only available to limited users running the latest Xbox Insider Program Build with ‘Alpha preview ring.’

Eventually, the feature will see a wider release, but the time frame isn’t known yet. If you’re already running Xbox Insider Program Build, you can follow the below-mentioned procedure (via WindowsCentral) to enable the ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode. If you want to join the insider program, head over to ‘My Games and Apps’ on your Xbox One dashboard, select ‘Updates’, and then select ‘Xbox Insider Hub app.’

There are four tiers to choose from – Alpha, Beta, Delta and Omega, out of which Omega is the lowest level and easy to get access, whereas Alpha is the highest level, exclusive and invite only.

Step-by-step guide to enable ‘Do Not Disturb’ on Xbox One

Step One

On your Xbox One controller, press the Xbox Button.

Step Two

Next, press LB four times for the Sign in tab.

Step Three

Select your profile and scroll down to appear online.

Step Four

Press ‘A’ and select ‘Do Not Disturb,’ that’s it.

To other users, your profile will show currently ‘busy’ state, and the ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode will remain active till you don’t manually disable it.
